Talking Points for Letters to the Editor

  • Washingtonians want action on climate. This is our generation’s defining challenge, and our greatest opportunity to build a future worthy of our kids. We’ve laid the groundwork for action on climate change, and in 2009 and we need to act on it.
  • Climate change is a solvable problem if we make changes now. Every year we delay makes the problem that much more difficult to solve. We have real solutions – like clean energy, energy efficiency, and smart land use planning that can make our communities and our economy healthier and stronger.
  • By making smart decisions on combating climate change now, we can build a Washington we want to hand on to our kids. We can do this by planning well and creating livable, walkable communities.
  • Passing clear, strong climate change policy is the first step. Businesses need to know where we’re heading, so they can plan and invest.  Strong climate policy and a strong green economy go hand in hand – you can’t have one without the other. And we need both.
  • Action is coming on the federal level.  By taking the initiative now, Washington better prepares our economy to adapt to future changes.
  • We need to build a new, more sustainable economy: one with broadly shared prosperity that can last. The clean energy economy will power a better future.
